Our boys went into the first game with a great spirit. They played Ophir Miners at 1:30 yesterday. Our team was the first to score! We didn't hold the lead for long - but we held our own. The final score was ?? to 7. Even at a loss this big, their spirits stayed high with all the encouragement from Coach Mead. Everyone got a lot of playing time and had a great experience playing with "the big boys".
The second game was at St. Mary's against Paradise Valley. This was a close game! The boys had now played one game together and were starting to get a feel for how the older kids play ball. When it was all over, and the smoke had cleared, it was HCS boys 48 to Paradise Valley boys 43! What a game! As you can imagine, this was quite a surprise. Paradise Valley has some BIG boys, but they were no match for our speed. Our boys are getting really good at "boxing out" the taller guys.
We play again this morning at 9AM at the Civic Center. I think it will be against the GVHS Cougars. We'll see how it goes.
The "A" team had their first game at 4:30 against St. Mary's. We all watched that until the 3rd quarter, then headed over to our game. When we left, HCS was up by quite a lot. Their next game was against GVHS at 7:30. The loser from that game is going to be our opponents in the game this morning.
