Welcome to Heritage Christian School Parent's Pages

This is a non-school sponsored blog. I have created this place for HCS parents (teachers and coaches welcome also) to share information with each other. Maybe there is some information that couldn't fit in the P.I., maybe you have a musical instrument for sale, or lessons to offer. Do you have a question about a practice time, a fieldtrip, a meeting you missed or a game? This can be a place for you to post a question or comment on anything related to the school. I will also post community events that I think are interesting. If you would like to be able to post on this blog (or have something you would like me to post), add a comment to the most recent post or call me at 920-1100.

Board Meeting

My understanding is that the board meeting, that was on the schedule for tomorrow night, has been cancelled.  I didn't see anything in the PI. If anyone knows anything else, please leave a comment.

High School BB Schedule

Booster Club Concessions Volunteers Needed!

Dear Parents,

Booster Club is in need of volunteers to run concessions during the JV, Ladies Varsity, and Men's Varsity games. This Friday and Saturday are home games. There is a sign up sheet in the front office at the school and you don't have to have a child in sports to help. Please check out the available times to see if any will fit into your schedule. If you have any questions, please call me at 209-1393.

Dear Parents of 2nd graders,

We need a chaperone or 2 to help transport kiddos to the Haynes Pavilion and back. We are taking a 13 passenger van so need rides for 6 of our kids. Let me know if you can help out. My home phone is 582-7833.

Also, don't forget to send your child's reading buddy's ornament in by Friday. They need to be wrapped with a name tag of some sort on them.

Thanks so much!!!!!
Mrs. Hart

Prayers Needed

My nephew was supposed to be born today, but I just got a call from my brother.  Little Grayson's heart stopped beating sometime last night.  Please pray for our family, especially my neice.

Spire Climbing Camps

If you aren't going anywhere over Christmas break, your kids probably need something to keep them busy.  The Spire is offering these camps over the break.  This is really a great way to tire out the kids for the day.

How Are We Representing Ourselves?

I see there are some new people watching the blog.  I just want to remind you all that this blog was started as a place to go for information.  Usually once a week, someone will give our family a call and ask if we have a spelling list or memory verse, because they forgot theirs.  We can now refer them to this blog instead of reading the lists over the phone.  We also have had many times when someone has said, "did you know____ is happening in the community". Or, "have you heard of anything going on that might be interesting to do this weekend"?  That is what this blog was designed for.  If you look back over ALL my posts you will see there is NOTHING that is in the least bit dividing or controversial.  That is not what this is supposed to be.   This is a blog, not a forum.  Information is shared, but please no negative attitudes should be brought here.  Please read over Matthew 18 and call me if you need to talk to me directly. My number is listed on the front page of the blog.

PTF Tomorrow

Just another quick reminder about the next PTF meeting which will be occurring tomorrow, December 1, at 8:15am.  This will be an informal meeting, with the majority of time being spent on bulletin board decorations, both in the hallway with Teacher Wish-Lists, and in the grade school classrooms with their "thank you" boards from their students.  We hope you can make it.  Point of Contacts, especially, if you are available to help in your teacher's classroom, that would be greatly appreciated!
Hope to see you tomorrow to "deck the halls" and "deck the walls"!!! :)

Boys 7th & 8th Grade Basketball "A" Team

Well, I just got word this afternoon, from Coach Mead, that his boys won their game by about 20 points. They played at 2:30 Saturday afternoon against Ophir Miners in the tournament championship game.  He said he felt like they had played their best game ever.  They did great on passing the ball around and really worked together well.  Congrats boys and coach!

7th & 8th Grade Boys Basketball "B" Team

Our boys went into the first game with a great spirit.  They played Ophir Miners at 1:30 yesterday.  Our team was the first to score!  We didn't hold the lead for long - but we held our own.  The final score was ?? to 7.  Even at a loss this big, their spirits stayed high with all the encouragement from Coach Mead.  Everyone got a lot of playing time and had a great experience playing with "the big boys".

Lunch Forms

Don't forget lunch forms are due tomorrow.  They should be turned into the office in the box on the wall.  Turning them in there keeps the teachers from having to run them down at the end of the day.

School Board Meeting

Don't forget tomorrow night is the monthly board meeting.  The meeting starts at 6 in the library.  For those of you interested in what's going on at the meetings, but can't attend, I will post the minutes as soon as they are available.  They are not usually available until the next month's meeting, that is when they are approved.

5 & 6 grade Immigration Simulation Day

I was just informed that the kids should come with some money, from their home country, for immigration into the U.S. on Tuesday morning. Of course, it's not real money.  We printed ours up from the internet.  It is supposed to be equal to $25 U.S. dollars.  If you haven't heard anything about this, ask your student/s.

Tournament Champions

Congratulations HCS 5/6 Basketball Falcons!    We played Ophir Miners, who has already beat us twice, in the championship game.  At one point in the game Ophir was up by 6 points, but it didn't last long. The last 11 minutes or so it was too close for comfort.  They were up by one, we were up by one, and so on.  But in the end - it was HCS boys on top by one point!!  Very exciting to watch!!

Bobcat Volleyball Kids Clinic

Don't forget the last of the clinics is Sunday, November 21st.  This is for 1st - 5th grade.  It starts at 3 and ends at 5 in the Shroyer Gym.  The cost is $20.00.  The contact person is Jenifer @994-6373.  A lot of our younger volleyball players have done this and had a lot of fun and learned some new techniques.

Inner workings

Please bear with me while I try to figure out how this "blogging thing" works.

Don't forget today is Veteran's Day!
