Welcome to Heritage Christian School Parent's Pages

This is a non-school sponsored blog. I have created this place for HCS parents (teachers and coaches welcome also) to share information with each other. Maybe there is some information that couldn't fit in the P.I., maybe you have a musical instrument for sale, or lessons to offer. Do you have a question about a practice time, a fieldtrip, a meeting you missed or a game? This can be a place for you to post a question or comment on anything related to the school. I will also post community events that I think are interesting. If you would like to be able to post on this blog (or have something you would like me to post), add a comment to the most recent post or call me at 920-1100.

  1. This is interesting - why wasn't this in the PI or were there only certain people solicited? Will the minutes be posted just the same as the regular school board minutes are posted?

  2. I agree with the first anonymous' questions. I am also wondering why PTF/Booster officers/members weren't notified of this meeting?

  3. This was a meeting planned from the week before, when we all met to decorate the bulletin board and do the "We are blessed by our teacher because..." calendars. Linda Chamberlain asked all of us there, "who is interested in coming to this meeting?". Who ever said they were interested received an e-mail of the date and time. Remember, this was a very informal meeting. No officers have been elected- therefore no minutes were kept. This is something that is trying to be put together and presented to the school board at the January meeting.
As usual, I will try to post minutes, to all mettings, when I get them.
Last month's PTF meetings were not mailed to me in a form I could post. I will try again to see if I can get them on the blog also.
If you have any more questions, you can call me on my cell. 920-1100

  4. Wow, as I read these posts and look at this blog that only a select few people know about, I can't help but think what kind of division is being caused at HCS because of this - how very sad for HCS' future!

  5. It truly is too bad you feel that way. Definitely it was open to all booster and PTF members who were interested. No one is trying to cause a division.
You say, "posts". Is there something you see here that looks exclusive? This is definitely a site that is designed for EVERYONE. If you feel there is some exclusion, as I said before, feel free to call me with any suggestions you have.

  6. You say "It was open to all.......members" yet in talking with a number of other members no one was aware of this "gathering". If it is open it should be publicized and I would recommend in the PI as that is the school's information link for the parents.....not this blog that isn't school sponsored nor do most of the families at HCS even know about. I'm not sure who some of the other Anonymous comments are, but there seems to be some concern over this blog and perhaps you might think about what items are posted on here! Thanks!

Thank you so much for your efforts in sharing information. That is always a good thing, in any format. Opportunities for communication and dialogue are vital to the success of any organization. Although the blog is in it's infancy and there may be limited utilization currently, with time and word of mouth it has potential to be a valuable tool.

  9. Wow! I am continually taken back by people. I personally have been spreading the news about Melissa's hard work on this informational site. This is a positive way to get information out that can't or won't fit in the PI. It has no bearing on weather it's school sponsored or not, but of course it's school sponsored because it is a parent willing to gather information and take time out of her busy day to make it happen. I have an RSS feed right on my desk top so I know what is going on this site all the time. We have no way to do that with events coming through on the PI. It is hard to get site information out when there is a limited venue for getting the site to all the family members. Also, this is an informational site only. Not a place to vent your anger and frustrations. If you have frustrations on this particular subject do the right thing and call Melissa or talk to someone that is a PTF Officer or a Booster Officer. I know that "members" means the whole school. We all pay tuition and so automatically we are members. Let's not turn something positive and helpful into something ugly. If we can't say anything nice or have something good and informational to share, take it somewhere else. And by all means, lets remain anonymous and not put our names out there!

  11. Okay, okay, okay. I see what some of you are concerned about. The PTF/Booster meeting title is wrong. This was an informal meeting of parents who are willing to do some leg work on finding out about forming a non-profit for the PTF/Booster clubs. We are looking at other schools who have very sucessful clubs and finding out from them how they run their organization. There is no intention here of any division. The only thing we are trying to do here is grow our program in a Christian way. There were officers there from both the PTF and the Booster.

  12. Thank you Melissa for all of hard work - you are a blessing to this school and it's parents. What could possibly be wrong with open communication to inform parents? It is obviously not a "secret" blog. I also believe that if someone feels strongly enough to post on this blog that they should be courteous enough to sign their name! Heather Cantrell

If you are going to comment, please be respectful to all who are reading and sign your name. If you are not willing to sign your name, please don't comment. This is just common courtesy.
